Ramesh Sippy to be bestowed with Lifetime Achievement Award at IFFJ
Dhanbad is the place for the first International Film Festival of Jharkhand scheduled to be held in 2018. Veteran filmmaker Padam Shri Ramesh Sippy will be felicitated with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution towards Indian Cinema at this film festival of Jharkhand. While currently Ramesh Sippy is busy with his Film making institute, RSACE, he is best known for some rare piece of cinema like Sholay, Shaan, Seeta aur Geeta to name a few movies directed by him. It wasn’t only in films, he has also had a successful track on television with the popular TV drama series ‘Buniyaad’ which is till date acclaimed as one of his directional masterpieces.
Various categories like Feature Films, Documentaries, Short Fictions and Animation from the world over will be invited and will be open for participation. Entries will be accepted through Film freeway, Vimeo and Withoutabox or through courier. This is the first ever IFFJ planned on such a professional scale aimed to bring films to the commoners. Jharkhand has given very prominent film makers like Shivam Nair who will be playing a pivotal part in the advisory panel for IFFJ.

Apart from film making, Ramesh Sippy is also involved in a film academy, named RSACE. RSACE’s core purpose is to produce generations of film professionals that will contribute to great storytelling.
Sippy is a renowned name in the history of film and TV industry. From his myriad experience, he wants to bridge the gap between theory and hands-on knowledge by highly experienced industry professionals and wants to deliver quality knowledge of film making to youngsters.
The legendary director further added, “The limitations of the propaganda of the digital medium also increased, so the demand for a film-tech learned person will grow in the future, in such a way that such institutions will not only help them, but also the use of technology in film production.”
Dhiraj Mishra, the chief promoter of IFFJ remarked, “Filmy celebrities born in Jharkhand have played an important part in defining Bollywood. Talents such as the International actress-superstar Priyanka Chopra, Tanushree Dutta – Miss India 2004 and actress, Imtiaz Ali the famed director-writer and the most awarded actor R. Madhavan are all Jamshedpur born stars. Jharkhand has also seen the rise of Mannara, Shweta Prasad, Amrita Raichand, the most lovable actress Meenakshi Seshadri who was crowned Miss India 1981, Komal Jha, Supriya Kumari and the non-forgettable actor Krishna Bharadwaj who played Lord Krishna in Maharbahata (Ranchi). This film festival will be dedicated to these great artistes from Jharkhand.”
This very 1st IFFJ will be organized by an independent organizing committee whose members are Dhiraj Mishra, Ashwani Shukla and Abhishek Arun. From publicity to marketing, promoting, bringing movies, workshops inviting national and international film makers, this core group is engrossed doing their work very rigorously to make this first ever International Film Festival of Jharkhand a successful one.
